A group of Seattle classics, The Stonecutters don’t just sing it – they bring it. Seasoned, proven, tried and tested. Each man brings a unique approach to professional musicianship. Rock meets soul meets jazz meets groove, which adds up to a recipe for a satisfying soul stew ready for immediate consumption.
On the drums: Ben Smith, a clever power hitter known for playing with Seattle’s giant hit-makers Ann and Nancy Wilson’s HEART. His list of accomplishments is long and storied. You will love to watch and hear him play.
On the keyboards, LA session wizard Brooke Lizotte, who’s played on so many television and movie soundtracks it’s hard to believe. His wizardry has graced the work of Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, Brian Johnson of AC/DC, Lee Oskar of War, Randy Meisner of The Eagles, Lee Oskar of War, and Northwest’s own treasure Danny O’Keefe, just to mention a few.
On Bass: Keith Lowe, who studied classically for 15 years before moving on to jazz and rock where he has backed such artists as Fiona Apple, Bill Frisell, Scott Law, David Sylvian, Stone Gossard, Harold Budd, and Wayne Horvitz. A funky groove-master of the highest order.
On the Sax is Brian Kent, a real Jazz man who can also rock it. His knack for weaving a luscious musical thread through the fabric of the night is notable, and he has shared the spotlight with many of his Seattle jazz and rhythm and blues brethren such as Floyd Sandifer, Wayne Horvitz, Chuck Metcalf, Little Bill and the Blue Notes, Barney McClure, Larry Jones and Hans Teuber.
On Guitar and Vocals is Neal “Virgil” Brown, both a Canuck and a Yankee, who cut his teeth in Vancouver’s gritty Gastown club scene and later brought his gutsy guitar slinging and unique voice to Seattle’s bars and clubs where he has played for many years…he’s a regular at Bake’s Place
