The New School of Jazz at Music Works Northwest
The New School of Jazz at Music Works Northwest Honors Ensemble is made up of some of the finest high school jazz musicians in Seattle and Bellevue area. The group has performed throughout the region including the Bellevue Jazz Festival. This is their first appearance at Bake’s Place and they will share the stage with their teachers, The New School of Jazz at Music Works Northwest Faculty All-Stars, world class jazz musicians who reside and perform in our community featuring Bruce Staelens, trumpet and flugelhorn; Rich Cole, saxophones; John Hansen, piano; Dan O’Brien, bass and Scott Ketron, drums.
The New School of Jazz at Music Works Northwest is dedicated to the education, promotion, and advancement of a uniquely American art form, Jazz music. Students of all ages are offered an integrated program of classes, workshops, lectures, performances, artist-in-residence programs, recording possibilities, and life-enriching performance opportunities.
These young musicians with the guidance of their teachers are focused on presenting performances of compositions by many of Jazz’s greatest artists and composers including Freddie Hubbard, Chick Corea, Cedar Walton, and many more. All part of a comprehensive jazz curriculum designed to nurture each student toward the discovery of his or her artistic voice as a performer, composer, and arranger.
75% of door proceeds are a donation from Bake’s Place to the Music Works Northwest Scholarship fund.
