The Crowtet began playing music together while studying jazz at the University of Southern California. Based in Los Angeles, the imaginative quartet of Kyle Scherrer, Zev Shearn-Nance, Michael Blasky and Ari Giancaterino represents an attempt to combine each of their unique experiences and musical concepts. Their passion for music is not limited by stylistic boundaries, and they draw from the many forms of music that they have had the privilege to perform and hear, ranging from old-school swing to modern R&B and drum-n-bass.
Consisting of a quartet of composers, the Crowtet regularly performs their original music around Los Angeles, and have become known for their highly improvisatory, yet melodic approach to jazz music. Their EP, Corvus, highlights four compositions that illustrate the band’s creative prowess and willingness to take musical risks, culminating in the form of exciting and adventurous soundscapes.
Currently on their first west-coast tour, the west-coast natives are debuting the group’s music outside of LA. Make sure to catch them while you can!
