Bellevue Jazz and Blues Festival – Kelly Ash Band
Before relocating to Seattle in the summer of 2014, vocalist Kelly Ash spent the last four years in New York City, refining her craft and leading a powerhouse band. Kelly appeals to a wide audience by writing and performing creative arrangements of original songs, jazz standards, and contemporary covers from songwriters such as Tom Waits, Sting, The Fleet Foxes, Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, and Jeff Buckley. Kelly infuses contemporary songs with the intricacies of jazz, blending folk, soul, jazz and pop to create an original sound.
Kelly has a Master of Music degree in jazz performance (voice/piano) from New York University, and is a member of the Cornish College of the Arts jazz faculty. Kelly is also a member of the well-known Seattle-based band “Nearly Dan,” performing the virtuosic and complex music of Steely Dan. She splits her time teaching and performing actively as leader of her own quintet in Seattle, New York City, and around the U.S.iCal Import + Google Calendar
