Bellevue Jazz Festival featuring Carlos Cascante y su Tumbao
Tumbao is a fiery six-piece collective that performs traditional salsa, modern timba, Latin jazz and more. The band is skillfully headed up by Carlos Cascante, a well-versed Latin vocalist who specializes in improvising soneos. His love for the music radiates while he is on stage as he easily connects with the crowd, igniting with joy the life of those who enjoy listening and dancing to Latin rhythms.
“The nice thing about Tumbao is it’s not just another salsa band playing airy dance music. Anchored by piano player Julio Jauregui, the band keeps one foot firmly planted in Latin jazz as it roams various dance beats. As singer Carlos Cascante said, during a between-sets break, ‘We try to touch a little bit of the Latin flavor and the Caribbean flavor and also keep the jazz flavor.”
